MUSIC

Micki loved music.  We present here the pieces played at her funeral services, all of which she loved very much.

Waltzes No. 3 (A minor, Op 34 No. 2), No. 5 (A flat, Op. 42) and No. 7 (C sharp minor, Op. 64, No. 2) by Frédéric Chopin (1810 - 1849), played by Dinu Lipatti (1917 - 1950).  Lipatti's recording was beloved by Miriam and Eli, her first husband.  Lipatti, like Chopin, was born in Eastern Europe and died in his his 30s in France.

"Manhã de Carnaval", from the film Orfeo Negro (Black Orpheus) by Luis Bonfã  Played by David Karlin (guitar) and Toby Karlin (saxophones and hand drums).

"Casta Diva" from the opera Norma by Vicenzo Bellini, sung by Maria Callas.  Micki idolized Callas and she especially loved her performances of Norma and Tosca.  She and Eli took Michael and Danny to see Norma one of Callas' last public performances, at the Opéra de Paris in 1965.
